    Animation vs Quality of Art Empty Animation vs Quality of Art

    Hey guys, I've got a question for ya.

    I don't know if anyone knows of it on here (well, I think at least one does), but I have a fanime called Project: Unknown that me and many others took quite awhile to label as 'fanime' because the animation was....well....not really existent. Now, I chose to do it this way because I don't have the time to work to make my art look 'good' by my standards and have it be fully animated. I COULD animate it, but then the quality would suffer. Which brings me to pose this question:

    When it comes to fanime, which would you prefer: A lot of animation, but no shading and poor art OR barely any animation, but shading and good art.

    Well, I've seen alot of let's watches on it and in one reviewers words;

    "This one's okay. I guess. Maybe some animation and focus and it'd be fine."

    It seems alot of people love your style the way it is though. My thoughts?
    Why not both?
    The animated clips don't have to be shaded, but that doesn't mean you can't shade less animated clips too!

    (BTW, loved the fanime, keep up the good work!)

    I, myself would rather have good art and less animation if it means getting the story across faster. While I do enjoy animation in a fanime sometimes if poor art goes with it than it can bug me.

    I agree with Danielle on this one and say why not both. You can animate small parts and leave other ones with minimal animation to it. My fanime doesn't have to much "exciting" movements to it as it is mostly talking (I am trying to kick it up a notch with the animation though). And shading is always your choice. It all depends on what you are comfortable with.

    For me I rather have abit more animation in a fanime, seeing as how making EVERYTHING look all quality like would take time.
    The animation can and most likely will come with less effort in the art style. And I actually okay with that.
    I would just up the quality abit when it comes back to an important part in the story so the viewers don't get to confused.

    Personally, I would say it depends on the genre and method of storytelling. Obviously an action show needs way more animation since that's what's telling the story, but if a show is primarily dialogue then you can afford to tone down the animation and ramp up the art. So my non-answer is gonna be "Either... Or both." Whichever best fits your style and schedule.

    why dont you just find a way to fashionably simplify your art style for an easier animation process???

    Oh you mean like how they animated "Panty and Stocking"? Everything was simplified till it was for a scene for emphasis like the transformation or ect.

    No....
    Thats more like being lazy....... ^^;;

    Have you noticed, how when a manga becomes a anime
    there is less detail to make the animation more smoother??
